The School of Education’s Linn Posey-Maddox, Elaina Meier, Rosemary Russ, Jennifer Seelig and Catherine Stephens were among those from across campus being recognized by UW-Madison's Teaching Academy during a ceremony on Wednesday evening, April 27.
The UW–Madison Teaching Academy is composed of faculty, instructional staff, and graduate students who have been recognized by their peers for sustained, demonstrated teaching excellence. The Academy works to promote, recognize, and support teaching and learning excellence in the UW-Madison community.
Posey-Maddox is an assistant professor with the Department of Educational Policy Studies, and Seelig is Ph.D. candidate with the same department. Meier a doctoral student with the Department of Counseling Psychology, Russ is an assistant professor with the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, and Stephens is a senior education technology consultant with MERIT.
Posey-Maddox, Russ and Stephens were inducted as Teaching Academy Fellows. This honor is bestowed on individuals who have demonstrated teaching excellence, are recognized and nominated by their peers, and are committed to advancing the mission of the Academy.
Fellows have a minimum of three years of experience as an educator at UW-Madison and have been formally recognized by their peers as having: demonstrated teaching excellence; demonstrated substantial service or leadership in education at UW-Madison; and expressed a willingness to be active participants in Teaching Academy events and governance.
Meier and Seelig were being recognized as a Future Faculty Partner for the UW-Madison Teaching Academy. Partners are graduate students who have been formally recognized by the Teaching Academy as having demonstrated a deep interest in and commitment to higher education, and a willingness to commit to one or more years of active involvement in the Teaching Academy. They have at least one-year residence status on the UW-Madison campus, and three semesters of teaching experience (or comparable) with demonstrated teaching excellence.
