This partnership consists of a multi-year effort to co-design and implement three components of educator preparation focused on skills development and supplying a high-quality workforce to MMSD schools –- starting with new educator induction and mentoring this fall. MMSD’s Board of Education voted to approve the Forward Madison initiative at its meeting Monday night.

The Wisconsin Collaborative Education Research Network (the Network) is a match-making endeavor that is designed to facilitate relationships among university researchers and educators to create new pathways for innovating teaching and learning practices. The Network is a collaborative effort between the UW-Madison School of Education, Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).

Hmong Parents’ Day 3 –- which is hosted by the Hmong Research Team of UW-Madison’s Department of Counseling Psychology -– is taking place Saturday, March 29. This is a campus event that runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and invites Hmong parents of UW-Madison students onto campus to increase their college knowledge and sense of efficacy to support their children in higher education.

On Thursday, March 27, UW-Madison’s Francisco Sánchez is delivering a Continuing Education Units presentation for Counseling and Consultation Services on Disorders of Sex Development (DSD). The lecture by Sánchez, an assistant professor with the Department of Counseling Psychology, is titled, “The Role of Genes and Hormones in Human Sexual Development.”

Earlise C. Ward, who earned her Ph.D. from UW-Madison’s Department of Counseling Psychology, is featured in the latest UW ICTR Today. This publication is a newsletter for UW-Madison’s Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. Ward is a tenured faculty member in the UW School of Nursing and the PI of a $1.8 million NIH-funded depression intervention for African Americans.

The U.S. News & World Report's graduate school rankings slot UW-Madison’s School of Education fifth overall, behind only Johns Hopkins University, Vanderbilt University, Harvard University and Stanford University. This marks the 15th time in the past 16 years that, according to U.S. News, UW-Madison has maintained a top 10 ranking among all schools of education.

chool of Education Dean Julie Underwood is one of four finalists for provost of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, University Communications announced Wednesday. The provost is the chief academic officer of the university, responsible for overseeing and coordinating the curricular, student and faculty life on campus. In the absence of the chancellor, the provost assumes the role of chief executive.

Marla Delgado-Guerrero, a doctoral candidate with the Department of Counseling Psychology, was one of four women inducted into the UW-Madison chapter of the Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society during a ceremony on Friday, Feb. 7. Delgado-Guerrero’s research “examines psychological, social and cultural factors that influence academic persistence for marginalized communities in higher education. Specifically, she has been examining Latina/os in higher education."

The Division of Psychotherapy within the American Psychological Association has awarded UW-Madison’s Bruce Wampold with its annual Most Valuable Paper award for his article, “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: A 50-Year Perspective on the Outcome Problem.”
