Welcome to the Counseling Psychology Training Clinic (CPTC)! The CPTC is a training clinic in the UW-Madison Department of Counseling Psychology. We provide high-quality, affordable, and culturally responsive mental health services to UW–Madison students and community members. Whether you’re seeking support or exploring therapy for the first time, we’re here to help in a respectful and inclusive environment.
Award-Winning Service
CPTC has been nationally recognized for its innovative and inclusive approach to mental health care. In 2018, the clinic received the Clinic Innovation Award from the Association of Psychology Training Clinics for delivering culturally relevant services to UW–Madison students.
In addition, CPTC supervisors have been honored for their excellence in training. One of our faculty members received the Outstanding Early Career Professional Supervisor/Trainer Award from the American Psychological Association, highlighting our commitment to high-quality supervision and student development.

Inclusive Excellence and Community Care
The Counseling Psychology Training Clinic (CPTC), in collaboration with University Health Services, is dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of underrepresented students at UW-Madison. Through this partnership, CPTC provides accessible, culturally responsive counseling services to students participating in scholarship and support programs across campus.
In addition to individual services, CPTC offers outreach programming and tailored workshops to these student communities. These efforts are designed to promote mental health awareness, build coping skills, and foster a sense of belonging within the university environment.
Experience in an Innovative Clinic
CPTC offers students a unique opportunity to work directly with diverse campus populations as counselors and community support specialists. For many, this hands-on experience, combined with exceptional supervision, personalized feedback, and mentorship, is a key reason for choosing the program.
We are deeply committed to each trainee’s growth as a culturally responsive and confident clinician.
